An Exhibition by Terrie Hylton
On Display Now – Feb 27
City Pulse is the inaugural exhibition at Ellery East Art Center, featuring original fiber works by founder and artist Terrie Hylton. Rooted in fabric, cotton, and layered materials, the exhibition explores rhythm, movement, and the quiet language of textiles as a reflection of lived experience, memory, and place.
The works in City Pulse move between abstraction and narrative, drawing from the textures of everyday life in Detroit. Through fabric collage, stitching, beads, paint, and found materials, the exhibition highlights fiber as both a material and a storyteller, capable of holding complexity, care, and transformation.
Don’t Miss It: Artist Talk & Closing Celebration

City Pulse opened with over 100 community members filling the gallery — and now we’re closing the same way we began: together.
On Saturday, February 28 from 3:00–5:00 PM, founder and artist Terrie Hylton will share the story behind City Pulse in an artist talk that’s as much a celebration as it is a conversation. Hear about the fiber works, the inspiration, and what it’s meant to launch this space with this show.
If you’ve been meaning to visit, this is your last chance — and the best way to experience it.
